Dakshin Rasoi began in my grandmother’s kitchen in Chennai, where I spent countless hours watching her transform simple ingredients into extraordinary meals. Her hands moved with practiced precision, measuring spices by intuition rather than recipe.

When I moved abroad for work, I found myself desperately missing those flavors of home. Phone calls to my mother and grandmother became cooking lessons, with me frantically scribbling notes and measurements they had never needed to record.

After years of collecting these family recipes and adapting them for ingredients available worldwide, friends and colleagues began requesting copies of my meticulously documented cookbook. What started as a personal project to preserve my family’s culinary heritage has now grown into Dakshin Rasoi – our mission to bring authentic South Indian cooking to kitchens around the world.
